About Us

Big Trees Village is a community located 5,000 feet above sea level in the Sierra Nevada Mountains just east of Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Calaveras County, California.

This is the website of the Big Trees Village Property Owners Association (BTVPOA). Here you will find our Recreation Center Activities Calendar as well as information about Board of Directors meetings, documents that govern our Association, useful local services, and more.

The BTVPOA is a California Non-profit Mutual Benefit Corporation. Annual membership in the Association is voluntary. Members are entitled to vote in the Board of Directors election and are able to enjoy the facilities of the Recreation Center including bocce, tennis, basketball, volleyball, four-square, and shuffleboard courts, the Frisbee Golf Course, and many events and activities throughout the summer.

Association members may use the two Recreation Center pools by paying a daily gate fee, but they also have the option of purchasing one of several seasonal Pool Passes. Pool access includes complimentary swim lessons, water exercise, lap swim, and inner tube water polo during the summer season.

Association membership and pool fees provide funding for year-round professional management and facility maintenance to look after the interests of the properties in Big Trees Village. The Association acts as the “eyes and ears” for property owners, most of whom are not full-time residents.

The Association’s Bylaws conform to California law governing non-profit mutual benefit corporations. The CC&Rs that governed Big Trees Village from its inception have been replaced by Design and Use Guidelines as part of the Bylaws. These guidelines continue to help ensure the beauty and safety of the Big Trees Village community.
